Section 4.11 Control of Inspection, Measuring, and Test Equipment

Objective:

To specify the controls to be used for calibrating test equipment for the measurement of all controlled jobs.

Responsibility:

Quality Assurance:

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining records of periodic maintenance and calibration of measuring equipment. Each Q.A. user of a measuring instrument will on a daily or shift basis calibrate the instrument using its standard. In the case of high precision requirements, calibration will be made using gage blocks.

Production:

Each user of a measuring instrument will on a daily or shift basis calibrate the instrument using its standard. In the case of high precision part requirements, calibration will be made using gage blocks.

Nonconformance:

Instruments found to be in nonconformance will be processed according to Section 4.13 of this manual.
